Virtual Consultations/Teledentistry Alderley
Are you in need of urgent care? Would you like to know what your options are for getting the smile of your dreams? You don’t have to wait despite being unable to come in for an appointment. At My Dentist, we are pleased to offer telehealth services.
Our dental team can conduct a consultation over the phone or via videoconferencing with Zoom or FaceTime, which allows us to see your teeth.
Who Is a Candidate for Teledentistry?
The patients who can benefit from this service include those who have
Recently undergone a procedure and require a follow-up
A certain concern about recovery post-procedure
An acute dental problem
A question about cosmetic dentistry
If you are unable to attend the clinic due to illness, isolation, or quarantine or are a member of a vulnerable population, we encourage you to take advantage of teledentistry. These vulnerable individuals include people 70 years and older, those who are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, and pregnant women.
You can also use this service if you have a young child aged under 12 months, are being treated for a chronic health condition, or meet the current national triage protocol criteria for suspected COVID-19 infection.
The Treatments We Can Discuss
All treatments can be talked about during your consultation. With emergency treatments, you’ll receive our best advice on how you can regain your comfort. We may request that you come in for treatment if necessary.
If you would like a consultation on cosmetic dentistry, including Invisalign® or orthodontics, we’ll outline the options that pertain to you.
Due to the limitations of teledentistry, our dentists can only give indicative diagnoses. A definitive diagnosis will require a face-to-face consultation and assessment. Please note that a service may only be provided by teledentistry where it is safe and clinically appropriate to do so.
How to Get Started
Call our practice to arrange a suitable time for the consultation. At the allotted time, we will call you for the appointment via phone, Zoom, or FaceTime to discuss your concerns.
How to Prepare
If possible, please supply us with a photo or video of your tooth problem, a copy of any records that pertain to your concern, and a complete medical history before the appointment. With this information, we can better advise you on the best course of treatment.
Please be aware of the limitations of teledentistry. Our dentists are providing the best advice possible in the absence of face–to–face consultations.
Payment Information
New patients: An $80 new patient consultation fee must be paid upfront prior to your appointment. A receipt will be emailed to you that you can present to your health insurance for a rebate.
Current patients: If you have been to our practice in the last two years, these consultations are offered gap-free on item number 919.
